Danielle's best friend at geek school is a boy named Alex, who we all call Boy Alex. They have decided to go to medical school together and have all sorts of plans. Boy Alex is gay and single and has a huge crush on one of his teachers (and Josh).
He was over tonight to work on a geek project he and Dani both have to do. They were sitting at the dining room table while Josh and Alex were in the living room watching tv. I finally had to tell Josh to go for a walk because Boy Alex was not concentrating at all, and Dani was getting angry.
It turns out Josh may have been a little ... uncomfortable with a boy having a crush on him, which amused me to no end. After dinner Josh took a shower and I have never seen him blush so much as when Boy Alex complimented him on smelling good.
The only other time I saw Josh blush was one of the first nights we'd all moved in together. The four of us were sitting at the table eating dinner and Josh was playing footsie with me and then all of a sudden stopped and said, "That was you, right?" and Alex giggled. He couldn't look my sisters in their eyes the rest of the night.
Anyway, all three of us picked up on Josh's uncomfortableness tonight and it was amusing us so much. Alex and I made brownies and when they had just come out of the oven the five of us were in the kitchen. Dani had cut one up and at one point shoved one in Alex's mouth. Boy Alex grabbed a piece of brownie and popped one in Josh's mouth too. Josh was already chewing before he realized what had just happened and we all cracked up at how horrified he looked.
Boy Alex went home at 10. Josh asked Dani if they finished whatever they'd been doing. "Oh, it's extra credit. We can do one every week!" Josh's face fell.

It's seriously hilarious, I was laughing the entire time!
I want to know what kept Josh from beating the SH%T out of Boy Alex!! Around here, that would not have gone well at all.....
Steph I'm not really sure how to answer your question - when people tease, you laugh. Josh would NEVER beat the shit out of a guest in his own home.
I guess we don't consider it teasing. When a gay guy hits on someone that they know is not gay, it's not "teasing". I know guys that are gay and they conduct themselves respectfully and don't come on to those they know aren't interested. It's very uncomfortable for the heterosexual person. So if this guy acted like that toward Josh on the street, would Josh still be ok with it?
It's the same as a girl who knows Josh isn't interested in her, flirting with him.
If we'd gone out for pizza and Boy Alex had done the same thing, Josh probably would have handled it the same way.
It almost sounds like you, or whatever guys you know, are homophobic. Boy Alex knows Josh is straight, knows he's not going to be into him, and he still thinks he's cute. It's the same thing as if I flirted with a friend's boyfriend. Unavailable is unavailable, no matter if it's because your sexualities don't match up or you're already committed to someone else.
Stories like this, and even moreso your response to Steph comments make me happy and hopeful for the future of the world.
