Fire family fired

I do not want to go to fire family dinners anymore. My little sisters are like baby ducklings though, and they don't want to go anywhere without me. They both totally like the dinners though. Josh had suggested a weaning process and it seemed like a good idea so that's what we're doing. Last month I told them I might need to miss some dinners. Yesterday when I realized tonight's dinner is with one of our favorite families, I told them I might not be able to go.

Then I made plans with this girl Yukina from work who is always inviting me to go get pedicures with her on Fridays. She wanted to meet me in the Village to go shopping, so we did that. Yukina is this very tall, Japanese girl who is loud and fun and spoiled. It was cool, especially when we stopped off at her mom's house and she insisted I eat some mochi and corn muffins (homemade!).

I keep making tons of typos so I am stopping now. But the point is, I hung out with a friend and got out of a fire family dinner and my sisters went.

Sweetie, don't get mad when I say this but I think your anger at the fire families might be mis-directed. You yourself know you have anger issues and I think the fire families are just trying to help. Fire departments are families and communities within themselves. They are there for you as a tribute and an honour to your brother. But they are also there because they love you and your sisters. It's a healing process for everyone. It's a very, very large wound that may never heal.

Does your school offer any counselling? It might be worthwhile to help you get through these feelings. When I was in University, counselling helped me get through some bad times (admittedly not as tragic as what you have faced).

Be kind to yourself. You have been through so much! You are incredibly inspiring to others but most importantly, you are everything to your sisters. Your strength and devotion is nothing short of heroic and honourable.

Your mother IS so proud of you.

Big hugs.

Wow, are these commenters new here or something?

Good job with the weaning. And it's smart not to burn any bridges with the families themselves, to still have them there for you if you want or need them.

Wow Anonymous 4:40, take your self-righteousness and shove it. Just because you may have been reading longer, it really doesn't make you a better person. Get over yourself.

Sam - I absolutely was not trying to sound condoscending and I apologize if my comment came across that way. I do agree with 4:40 though, wean slowly and don't burn any bridges. You are awesome.
