I need embarrassing girlie help

It has been brought to my attention that I do not know how to buy appropriate um pajamas. Normally I just wear to sleep whatever shirt I wore during the day, and take off my jeans.

Any time I've had pajamas, they're from Target and either Nick and Nora or Xhilaration. Like I have a hot pink baseball jersey night shirt from Xhilaration that I got two or three years ago. What I showed Josh I was thinking of getting, he said was appropriate for my little sisters. When I told him I've always wanted those fancy flannel matching pajamas he closed his eyes and shook his head no. Josh said that basically nothing for bed should come from Old Navy or Target.

When I asked where things should come from, he said Victoria's Secret or Agent Provocateur or Bloomingdales. Three places I have never shopped. Three places whose prices intimidate me (never mind some of the stuff they sell intimidating me). I really need to work on getting some girlie friends.

So clearly I need help. Help?

Here's what I would recommend in that situation. Most guys wouldn't argue if you wanted to go to bed in something lacy and exciting every night, but unfortunately the lacy and exciting stuff isn't always the most comfortable. It sounds like Josh is understanding and doesn't have unreasonable expectations, even when there are wrinkles in communication. Not to sound like a creepy lurker, but I've been reading your blog a long time and I get the impression that you're a predominantly pragmatic person, so comfort is probably a priority.

Of course you'll want to go with what you specifically prefer, but what I would do is find a compromise that will be comfortable most of the time and if he really wants you to have something more special and fancy, let him get you one like that as well. So I'd go for the cute and subtle brand of sexy as opposed to the outright sexy type, i.e. something like this (the cami and knickers, not the robe) or this will probably be way more comfortable to sleep in than this.

I'll second Melissa's advice. I would also add that silk and satin are a lot more comfortable than lace is.

I agree with the above, VS has some very comfy, mildly sexy items in cotton that are probably up your alley style wise too. Bloomie's has lots of choice too, I've never had the pleasure of shopping at his third option unfortunately.

I think if he wants lacy/uber sexy that's something he should pick out for you, and probably won't be a nightly item b/c of comfort, etc.

This is a good problem to have.

I completely agree with Melissa. Wear what makes YOU comfortable and happy, just as you do during the day. It's fun to wear something sexy once in a while, but I certainly wouldn't want that every night, and frankly, it wouldn't be special anymore.

I sleep in my husband's undershirts (so nice and soft...), so clearly I can be of no help with this one!

I just run with naked. My husband has never understood why I'd spend money on something he was just going to take off in 2 minutes anyway. :P

Personally, I always like a slinky nightie-covers things if you need to run for a pee, isn't uncomfortable, and it's still sexy.

Although I've always thought a little tank and shorts does the trick too. :)

Boys are silly.
