Let's just say cannolis were involved

Vacations are a wonderful thing. Alex and I went to my school and went swimming and then played basketball with some boys who were there. She thinks my library sucks because there are no good books.

We bought some amazing Asian pears on the way home. We may have had pears, popcorn and cannolis for dinner.

It's great that you are continuing to have a fun vacation. You have accomplished so much this year! The improvements you've made in your life and the lives of your sisters and the ways you've handled issues that have arose have been incredibly impressive.

I was thinking earlier of what 2009 has been for you, how you and your sisters are ending it so much better off than you began it and the trajectory of it all. Addressing problems with a teacher, applying to and getting into college, graduating high school, applying for and receiving many scholarships, starting college, succeeding in your first semester, dealing with living with your aunt, working out summer housing, moving out of your aunt's toxic home, working out so many hard issues for the apartment with Josh, learning to live with Josh, settinbg up a much healthier living situation, getting the new office job, leaving the worsening diner job, doing great and valued work at the office and as a tutor, transitioning out of therapy, enjoying happy memories of your mother, using wisdom from your therapist and your mother to guide you, taking care of your sisters, taking care of yourself, finally having fun on a regular basis . . . what a difficult and triumphant year! Well done!

May your successes continue in 2010, without as many obstacles and with oodles and oodles of happiness.

And it's always so cute when you write that something may have been involved and the like. Thanks for all the posts!
