When I got home from work today Alex had watched a documentary about ... beauty? eating disorders? advertising? Maybe all those things? She was trying to explain it while we were making dinner but I wasn't fully paying attention and didn't quite understand.
Then she told me in the afternoon Alex called Aunt Elaine. I paid attention to that.
Me: How'd your talk go?
Al: Good.
Me: What'd you say?
Al: Hi.
Me: What else?
Al: This is Alex.
Me: What else?
Al: How are you?
Me: How is she?
Al: Okay. Like the same.
Me: She said she's the same?
Al: Not exactly but that's what she meant.
Me: Then what?
Al: Then she said her show was on and she had to go.
Dani: But when did she ask how you were?
Al: ... she didn't.
Dani: Did she ask how we are?
Al: No.
Dani: Did she ask how school is?
Al: No.
Me: So it was like a two minute talk?
Al: Um yes. Not even.
Dani: Bitch.
Me: Bitch.
Alex told me when she was going to sleep she didn't even realize until Dani pointed it out - that Aunt Elaine never asked about her. Bitch.

Wow. That's SO sad. It's sad that she doesn't realize the treasure she had in her life. Sad that she's alienating someone who was trying to care about her.
Well, you DEFINITELY don't need to feel guilty about not looking back.
