Aunt Elaine said absolutely not to Danielle getting a cell phone. She said when you do bad things you don't get rewarded. That sounds logical. I couldn't figure out how to argue it. Danielle is bummed. Hopefully her shrink will work some magic.
I told Danielle that I'll take $5 of my $10 a week to donate to her cell phone. If she babysits every weekend she will be able to afford a cell phone and still have a little money left over. I hate money.

That sounds like a reasonable deal, that way she earns the cell phone instead of being given one.
As far as what Craig said about you being her "Mother" is a bad choice of words, but in a way true. All 3 of you girls NEED your mother. Unfortunately that was taken away from you and you were left to make do. And it sucks for you to be the oldest and have to take on many of the responsibilities that would have been your Mom's. But I think what he means is that Dani needs a mother-like figure. Someone to care for her and nurture her. Your Aunt definitely won't do that for any of you.
I'm the oldest of four. My parents (mother and stepfather) are living, but currently, it's mostly me raising my siblings.
I'm 23, the next one is 16, the next one is 15, and the next one is 10. It's really hard because they hate that I'm trying to take care of them. At the same time - they need groceries so they don't eat just cheese sandwiches every day.
So, really I wanted to say this: Your aunt should get Danielle a phone for the reason that Danielle is going to use someone else's phone. With her own cell phone, it's easier to keep tabs on Danielle.
