There's this school in California where they told all the students a bunch of their friends had died in drunk driving accidents. Then the students got so upset that the teachers felt bad and told them it had all been like a hoax, to scare them into not drinking and driving. Now there's all this drama around it because people are saying it was too harsh of the school to psych everyone out that way.
Obviously nothing like this will be done at my school since it's in the city, and pretty much nobody drives here, but I think anything that keeps people from like driving drunk or getting in a car with someone who does is a good thing.
Some people are really just too sensitive.

Stupid. Really stupid. Who of them is going to be at a party going "I think I'll stop here because I was so scared for a few hours that my friends were dead. People have to *actually* be dead to cause long-term behavioral changes.
That does sound like a mean prank. When I was in high school we had an awareness day where every so many minutes a student had their face painted white and then couldn't talk the rest of the day, to show how many teens are killed by drunk driving. I think that spoke way more powerfully than lying about death.
Actually it's called Every 15 Minutes. They have it in northern California where I live. I remember it from high school. It's a highly acclaimed program, and everyone around here knows about it. I guess they were trying it at a new school or something and not everyone knew about it. But honestly, they're painting it in an awful light. They stage a fake car crash scene out in front of the school and have speakers talk about the effects of drunk driving. It's actually a great program and it's too bad that the media is taking it so badly.
