Every single day this week, including tonight, I have been home by 11 o'clock. Every single day I have had two glasses of orange juice. Every single night I have been in bed with the lights off by 1:30 a.m.
Every single morning I wake up totally coughing and barely able to speak with my chest hurting a lot. Yes, I am taking all my medicine.
I still come home from school and can't let myself sit down on my bed because otherwise I won't get up again. I still sleep really hard each night - I slept through a smoke alarm going off two nights ago.
I am tired. I am also tired of being sick.

I know you have very little time in the day Sam with school/work but your still not getting enough sleep. Your not going to bed until 1:30 and I assume you have to be up by 6:00? 6:30? I know my kids start high school at 7:20. I know your doing what you have to do but your body is still very weak. Please take care....
Good job consistently getting home and going to bed at times that I gather are earlier than is usual for you and taking orange juice and continuing all your medicine.
It isn't, however, enough. You need much more rest. I understand you have your job and homework and also reason to stay out of the apartment because of your aunt, but your body needs rest to repair and to be strong enough to not be continually run down and susceptible to further illness.
If you can't let yourself sit on your bed because you will fall right to sleep, your body is telling you it needs sleep.
Can you get permission to nap in the nurse's office instead of attending physical education classes?
Can you borrow a water vaporizer (humidifier) from a family to use at night?
Can you or someone on your behalf speak with your teachers about striking a balance between current and missed work and material that must be completed and learned and projects that can be set aside so that you can have more time with less stress to allow yourself to recover?
Do you have a follow-up appointment with the doctor?
Would the doctor be willing to make the case to your school about the severity of your situation and your needs?
Could the doctor possibly supply you with some items you need to help you get better so you won't have to pay for or steal them?
Do you have a point person who can coordinate with the fire families whom you can tell exactly what you need so that the families can all help out without your asking directly and without them giving you items that are of no use?
Can you speak directly with Josh or his mother about sleeping there while you are still sick and set up an arrangement instead of hoping Josh will offer?
