Unwell Endings

Alex called me from her friend's house. She didn't feel good and wanted to come home. She said the pizza tasted funny.

Danielle picked her up at our subway stop and on their walk home Alex leaned against a building and cried. I don't know if the pizza was bad and made Alex sick, or it tasted bad to her because she's sick. All I do know is she spent the rest of the afternoon and night in bed either crying, sleeping or looking pitiful. Dani gave her rye toast with jelly on it and Alex ate less than half.

How come any time we get sick it's always a long, drawn out illness that takes at least a week to recover from? How come we never magically bounce back after sleeping it off?

I hope Dani and I don't catch whatever Alex has.

The end.

oh, geesh, can't catch a break...I firmly believe the surroundings you live in effect the body's ability to rebound, and with that auntie of yours, smoking, negative and all together unbearable, I think it makes it tough on a body to just get better by rest and sheer will.

Hope she feels better soon and no one else gets it.

That's so disappointing! I agree with Lil Sis that the smoke probably keeps your immune system lowered. Easier to catch things, harder to recover. I'm sorry Alex is sick.

I am certain the cigarette smoke in your home and the stress in your lives has compromised each of your immune systems.

You'd probably recover more quickly if you lived someplace safe where you felt comfortable and were able to relax during the day and at any time, someplace much less cramped and more functional, with clean air and proper beds and fresh sheets and pillows and towels.

Of course, being attended to by caring sisters when sick does help a lot!

Best wish for a speedy and full recovery for Alex.
