Frenching it up

We are trying to expand our dinners and try things we haven't had before. Plus I am trying to eat better in general.

Tonight I made some french thing. I think it was pretty fattening. It tasted really good and we all liked it, but nutritionally a failure. However! This website's translations are hilarious and I want to cook more things from it because the wording amuses me so much. I was a little confused that there was no vegetable included, so I just made a side of spinach to go with the other stuff.

Josh insisted we need to have dessert on the nights we're trying something weird. His logic is that since it might suck, we will have an easier time suffering through if we can look forward to dessert. So I also made homemade whipped cream and we had strawberries and blueberries for dessert tonight.

I love homemade whipped cream with berries. We don't have an electric mixer so I have to do it by hand, which means I don't make it as often as I might otherwise.

Do you know the tip about putting the bowl and whisk in the freezer before making the whipped cream?

The French dish looks nice!

I mix a bit of cinnamon and sugar into the cream before I whip it. Or I do half yoghurt/half cream. It's fab!
