Dinner was so good tonight. I would never want to be on Hell's Kitchen or Top Chef or anything. Nobody needs anyone screaming in their face. Working in a professional kitchen doesn't seem fun either. It's really hot in them, and people are picky eaters.
Josh met me at work and walked me home today. For some reason we were talking about the old gender stereotypes and Josh asked me if I would ever want to be one of those wives and mothers who stay home all day. Then he said, "You know, those women who don't work?" Um, so where does that leave my mom? It came out that Josh didn't really think what my mother did was a real job. More of like a hobby that paid money. So yeah we stood in 100 degree weather during rush hour with people all around us while I stood there and explained what she did. That she supported three children on her little fucking hobby. The more I talked and tried to get Josh to understand, the more upset I got. After a while Josh apologized and we went the rest of the way home in silence.
When I got inside I washed my hands and started making dinner. After about 45 minutes Josh stood at the edge of the kitchen and when Alex started to come in he twirled her around and told her to leave, that I was in a bad mood. I looked up. "I'm not in a bad mood." Alex came back. She peered into my face and then turned to Josh. "She's not angry. Sammy's in her happy place."
Maybe I should cook more.

Noooooooooooo! Bring back the old layout!
What a shock it was for the comforting, familiar layout not to come up.
Took a bit to realize the theme running through this post. Cool how that worked. Good post.
I think the new layout is pretty, cheery.
First Anon, I'm just trying this out. I might change it again.
I like the new blogger templates. I thought about this one, too. Now I just have to design a new header, but that means figuring out a new theme. Good thing it's a slow summer at work!
I like that cooking zaps you into your happy place.
What did your Mom do?
I love it, pretty:) Glad you got to cook, many times that's my happy place too.
FYI the new layout takes longer to load than the old one did.
OTRgirl, I'm pretty sure Sam's mother worked as a seamstress out of her home.
I'm hesitant to ask this, but how did a seamstress working out of her Brooklyn home come to be murdered in the terrorist attacks in Manhattan?
I am actually curious about that too...in a non-offensive, non-prying kinda way. If that's possible. Which is probably isn't.
