I met up with Jackie for dinner tonight. She is angry at Becca. I didn't want to pry so I don't know why, but it sounded like Jackie knows it will pass and they'll go back to being friends.
At one point she asked something about where my parents live, like in relation to where I live, and it came out. Jackie's eyes got really wide and she was quiet for a minute. And then ... "You must have not had to do ANY homework that year. SCORE!" And we high-fived. Over my mom dying.
I don't think many other people could have pulled off joking about it that way. They couldn't have made it funny, and I wouldn't have taken it so well. It's not really funny to re-tell, but in the moment, it was really nice that Jackie created a space where I could talk about my mom and it didn't have to be all serious and respectful.

I hear you. I kind of hate when the conversation goes in a direction where Mom's come up and I can see that moment coming when I'll say, "She's dead" and they'll get quiet and not know what to say. It's refreshing when someone comes up with a different reaction.
I like that she was comfortable enough with you and with the situation to lovingly joke about it. That's cool.
You retell it well. No, it isn't exactly funny in the retelling, but you get across how things went and why it worked.
Really glad you were able to finally reconnect with Jackie and that she is someone who could create that space with you! It sounds like she feels close to you, you know? Because someone who didn't feel close to you wouldn't have been able to pull that off. It seem she feels she gets you and from the way you received it that is true.
This really is an example of how helpful it can be to have good friends.
Jackie is a keeper.
Looks like you are feeling better? The racing of the mind and the not eating or keeping food down were especially worrisome if you are in fact hypoglycemic.
Not on the topic of this your most recent post, but it looks like you could get $25 off that $70 Gap dress with today's Groupon.
I think you pay $25 before midnight today and for that you get a coupon for $50 to use at a Gap store any time in the next month. So pay $25 now, and then get the dress for $20? So $45, not bad.
Um, but you need a credit card. Maybe you have at least a check card? Or Josh has a card you could use?
Hope you are okay.
