Some traveling stuff

I am not scared of 9/11 happening again (as long as I don't think about it too much). A non-drivers driver's license is being sought. Though when I told Josh he told me actually, I should learn how to drive for "just in case." Ugh, one thing at a time. What I am worried about when it comes to flying is that you have to go through a radiation metal detector thingie, or get totally felt up (and down) by security guards on power trips. Not that I am at all biased. From reading about this it seems you get to decide which one you want. Who could want either of these? I want whatever they do in Israel. How do I sign up for that kind of security (without like, moving there)?

Am relieved to have just found a list online of the airports that require making the choice. LaGuardia and Kennedy don't require it, and neither does anywhere in Florida. Whew.

Thank you for the shoe suggestions. I'll bring sneakers or flip flops for walking around. It's hard to be sure having never been but I think Josh normally just lays around on vacation, and takes breaks from laying around to play a round of golf or basketball or get on a boat to lay around on that. So I guess this will be like a working vacation since Josh said he's going to plan every day down to the minute.

Me: Can we go to a WalMart while we're in Florida?
Josh: Of course. That's where we'll go to get whatever we've forgotten.
Me: Why are we forgetting something?
Josh: Everyone forgets something when they travel.
Me: On purpose?
Josh: No.
Me: I don't get it.
Josh: Just go with it.
Me: Okay. What should I forget?
Josh: You don't get it.
Me: I KNOW! That's why I am asking you!
Josh: Just forget it.
Me: Forget what?
Josh: Just ... something you can pick up at WalMart!
Me: I don't get it.

I told Josh to plan time for me to get my sisters presents. He said we'll get them at the airport. When I asked if that wasn't kind of tacky he claimed for Florida it's perfectly fine and expected. Today I asked Jackie where she'd get siblings presents if she was going to Orlando. "Airport before your flight home." So I guess Danielle and Alex are getting airport gifts. Even though it feels wrong.

Will probably have nothing to talk about except vacations and flying and Florida until it actually happens. By the time January actually rolls around I'll probably not even want to go anymore because of having thought about it to death.

Oh, and Josh asked me to not wear only black. "We'll be on vacation, live it up a little!" Um yeah. Not everything I own is black. Some things are faded black, and one shirt is outrightly dark gray.

Coming from personal experience, I would be sure to pack some cold weather stuff too. Just something to think about because you never know with Florida in the winter. It's going to be lots of fun and I can't wait to read all about it!

Dani and Alex can get gifts from Disneyworld or Epcot Center. Disney will have lots of logo stuff, everything from candy to clothes, and more, while Epcot will have all kinds of stuff from different countries when you get to the countries part. You don't have to do airport gifts.
I think the comment Josh made about your clothes is hilarious. I think that Florida would be considered a resort area, and generally, you'll find people wearing "resort clothes" which often times tends to be really loud, bright colors. Don't know why. I say just being comfortable is key. Trust me, a florida vacation is tiring. Just walking through the theme parks has got to be like walking a marathon.

The Orlando airport has Disney, SeaWorld and Universal Studios stores, so shopping there would be just fine.

If the weather is going to be hot (which it may not be in that part of Florida in January) you might want to add a white shirt or two to your wardrobe. Black is awfully hot if you are standing in line (or "on line" as my NY friends all say) for long. You can definitely find Disney stuff at the airport, but it's sort of fun to buy at Disney World. Just my opinion. I'm not a big fan of airport shopping, even if it is the same stuff.

I never get tired of reading this stuff ;-) lol your so cool!! And JOsh is so funny too! sorry but thats just how i see it. I agree (not that ive been anywere near america but hey) i dont like buying 'jo blog' gifts but thats probably becouse i and my family all except a few are into quirky stuff. also it may be cooler to your sisters if you buy it from disney world than if you told them you got it from the airport. My brother went to israel for 8 months o kibutz and went to siria and gaza and god knows were else and what did he bring me back? the sequal to silence of the lambs from the airport (ok it was a good book but thats not the point is it ;-) Good luck with this...when are you going??
