How we should be

All I want to do is follow my sister around like a puppy dog all the time now that she's home, but surprisingly she's not into it. Danielle said it was too overwhelming to be outside hearing so much English and borrowed Josh's old iPod to block out the noise. She also keeps switching languages a lot, and sometimes stops talking completely to sort out which language has the best word to express what she's trying to say. You can almost see the wheels in her head spinning. Everything must be much slower in Italy because Danielle told us a few times we were rushing too much. I don't get her; there's a lot to get done, so you rush to get it done. Makes sense to me. All three of us squished into bed together last night and are doing it again tonight. Last night, when we turned out the light Alex clapped her hands and happily said, "This is how we should be." Then like three hours later Danielle got up, because the time change going backwards is really hard I guess.

Yay! Home safe!

You never told us you expected her so soon, you little sneak. :P

When my bro and I went to France for a month when we were 11 and 13 respectively, we came back speaking our language to each other but for a few days it was nearly impossible to speak in anything other than French to everyone else, including our parents. So I feel her pain. :) Oh, and in case she studies two languages at school, yes Italian will probably interfere with the other language now too, for a while.

Very glad for you all.
