Thank you for explaining Laurie's point of view. I went to her place after work tonight to talk with her. I told her I'll definitely go to graduation. I hadn't known she wasn't invited to Josh's sister's graduation. Maybe I'm kind of selfish. It hadn't seemed like a big deal at all until Laurie started telling me about all the stuff she's missed and almost cried two or three times. It was very sad.

I don't think you're selfish - we all tend to see things from our own perspective primarily, right? And - like you said - Laurie obviously has hangups about missing events like this that have absolutely nothing to do with you. It's so great that you went and talked to her though.
Well done. It might surprise you to go and enjoy it. For all your hard work, it's also good to pause and celebrate and be celebrated.
