Two requests

Dani came in early this morning to launch her requests. From me, she wants birth control. From Josh, she wants to learn to drive. I was tempted to offer him $100 to switch with me.

Yes, I should be happy she's being honest and open and all that shit about telling me. Which I am. Except I'm pissed off and jealous that I had to go by myself. Then Dani asked if we thought she should make her boyfriend pay half the cost. Definitely.

Dani found me later, when Josh wasn't around. She wanted to ask me if there was anything else she needed to know, that she hadn't read about. I said I'd think about it. I don't know what the hell else to tell her.

Alex better be a lesbian.

all of you should read Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It's primarily a book read by women trying to get pregnant, which you are not, but it was the first time I actually read something about my hormonal cycles that made sense. I learned a heck of a lot from that book.

Bookwise, I really recommend S.E.X. by Heather Corinna - great birth control and STI/STD explanations. I bought it for both girls I used to nanny. I was alone for my education and birth control and wanted to make sure they were not. You have the same opportunity to be there for Dani and Alex to provide a different option than you had.

regardless of how uncomfortable I've told my kids "ask me anything and I will honestly answer" when it comes to this, I've stuck to it, I've offered more than they wanted at times, but knowledge is power even if it's uncomfortable to talk/hear it, they are lucky to have you.
