Maybe I could get a job in the back?

Bike Messenger Girl is still angry at me. She is still slamming things down on the counter or throwing them onto my desk. Every time she comes off the elevator my heart sinks. The way she gives things to me, makes me want to violently chuck shit at her every time she's walking towards me. I have gotten so spoiled, having a year away from high school. Not that everyone is amazingly nice in the world, but nobody has been so outrightly mean like Bike Girl is being.

Today I was getting phone instructions from someone on where they needed their package to go while Bike Girl was standing there. The person on the phone was looking up the address. Bike Girl refused to wait. I muted the phone and yelled out "Please wait - I'm getting it for you!" She gave me the finger as she rounded into the elevator.

Fuck. This. I got the address for the package, and then called the messenger service. It was a really uncomfortable conversation.

Messenger Dude: Bike Girl was sent out.
Sam: Yeah she left before I could give her one last thing.
Dude: Yeah okay, lemme send her back.
Sam: Um actually? Could you maybe send someone who's like not her?
Dude: You too?
Sam: What?
Dude: You're like the fourth person to ask us to send someone else.
Sam: Oh. Well yeah, we're having getting along problems.
Dude: You're not alone. I'll send someone out to you for a rush.
Sam: Thanks.

So I guess she's like, got something else going on in her life or whatever. Since she's screwing up other places.

Crazy conflicts at work that can't be resolved are awful.
But I'm hoping it makes you feel a little bit better to know that it's not just you that bike girl is taking her wrath out on.

No, you shouldn't have to get a job 'in the back' or anywhere else since it's her that's creating the conflict. Hopefully "dude" on the phone is paying attention and she won't be bothering you much longer. When 4+ people start to complain about an employee, you think they'd take notice that something's not quite right.

You, on the other hand, have conducted yourself with the utmost dignity and maturity, not sinking to her level and just trying to work with her like a normal person.

Cold comfort, but still nice to know it's not just you. Glad you called about it.

You'll have to meet other people just like that, because it's just the way it is. But, it's funny (not literally) how several other people have problems w/ her too. It makes u feel that ur not alone to complain, y'know?

Bike Messenger Girl has some sort of problem.

It would be one thing for the interactions to be uncomfortable and weird, but she is continuing to let her anger affect her work, and you have every right not to stand for that!

Glad you said something. You showed remarkable restraint in your complaint.

Imagine if she delivers your company's packages in the same manner in which she picks them up from you!

By requesting someone else, you are looking out for the business, making sure it is represented well and the packages are in capable hands for safe delivery.
