A band or artist who's gotten me through tough days

I'm trying again on that 30 day thing, even though this is taking way more than 30 days.

This one doesn't really apply to me. It just doesn't. Once I saw this painting of a bald, ghost-like boy near a fence with his mouth wide open, screaming into the night. I really like it - imagining how he let all his rage spew out of his body. That there was not enough space inside him for all the anger, but there was enough space for it out in the world. Once there was enough space for the rage, it lessened in its intensity. Of course I have no idea who did this painting or what it's really supposed to mean, but I like it.

Edward Munch- The Scream?

Every secondary school age child in England will have written a few lines of pretentious prose about it once in their school career....maybe why I'm not so fond of it! Or maybe just because it's, there.

I'm guessing with Anonymous above. From my perspective, there's nothing pretentious about interpreting a work of art for ones self and I think your interpretation is spot-on.

Anon2:

I didn't mean to say that Sam was being pretentious :) It's just, I've done that myself. 13 year old horrors being made to write about art, in a 'creative writing' lesson? It will be pretentious, believe me.

Sam, I don't know if you check comments that have been added to previous posts; I left you one on your "Why shouldn't I freak out?" post. You might want to check it out. Best, Shannon

Thanks Shannon, I saw. :)
I talked to a girl who flew two weeks ago and she explained what the pat-down was like for her. To me, that's invasive. I'm going with a dose of radiation.

Hi Sam,

Thanks for putting the smiley face, I didn't want to seem weirdly insistent! So, I hesitate to share this b/c I don't want you to worry, but I find that I get patted down more when I go through the scanner than the metal detector... If they see anything at all in your pockets, socks, around your waist, etc., they'll pull you out. I've been stopped for having a ziploc bag, boarding pass, stick of gum, kleenex, etc. in my pocket. I think it's ridiculous, but that's just what happens. So, if you go with the dose of radiation, be sure to clean out your front and back pockets of EVERYTHING, even if it's not metal. Be sure to take your belt and shoes off. And remember - it's 5 mins (x2) of the entire trip! :->

BTW, I so enjoy reading your blog. You sound like really just the neatest person, and I admire the life you're crafting for yourself.

Best, Shannon
