I was able to have one of our fire families for dinner tonight. Not the next family in rotation, because they went to Florida for the long weekend, but the one after that. Josh asked if I was just going to put out Thanksgiving leftovers his mom forced us to take home, but hello, have you met me?
Almost all day I wandered around waiting for inspiration and finally Alex made it clear: go back to basics. So dinner was salad, garlic bread, and meatballs and spaghetti. Rainbow cookies for dessert. It was so obvious once she said it. Our fire family loved it. We loved it.
I froze two containers of the meatballs for a late night.

There is definitely something wonderful about basics done well. Glad it was fun.
We had spaghetti and meatballs last night for dinner too, but mine were the frozen ones (gasp!) Glad you enjoyed yourself.
