Allowed out

Basically I have to pack all my clothes. Last night Laurie came over and went through the apartment with us, helping to pack what we don't want to risk being ruined (or stolen). So all our mom's and nana's stuff is now in Josh's bedroom.

There are a Lot of Big Feelings about gathering it all up, putting it all in a box and putting the box in somebody's house. Somebody else's house that's not mine. If there was a way of traveling with it through Europe that would be my vote. Despite the shittiness of how Alex and I are (not) getting along, I keep reminding myself she will be with our stuff and really keep it safe. Over and over. And over again.

Also, I can't believe they just let you walk right out of the country. No GPS implanted or anything. Doesn't the US care about me? I've lived here my whole life! I don't litter! I compost! Why doesn't the US want to make sure I know where I'm going? Don't they care if I get lost?

They are just going to let me go strolling away. They don't even care how long I'm going to be gone.

You might think this is crazy but I was thinking that it might be a good thing if you could somehow tell Alex that it makes you feel safer that she's with the important stuff, she's in charge. Now, if it were me, I don't think I'd say it until I was on my way out the door or I might even just leave her a note but the idea of placing that trust in/responsibility on her feels good. Well, it does to me. Your mileage will almost certainly vary.

I always thought it was strange to JUST leave the country. But it is so nice and refreshing to be free! And the country you enter will want to know how long you're staying :)
