I am my pnuemonia's bitch

I tried to work from home Tuesday, but it turned out sitting in a chair AND breathing was too hard. Today was Attempt Two and it still didn't work. My eating has been terrible all week. So has everybody else's, I think. Danielle asked me what to make for dinner one night and all I told her was "something in the crockpot." So she made the filling for apple pie in it, and then they all ate that for dinner after ordering a pizza.

When I went to Doug, after he diagnosed me he gave me a note for work. Apparently this is a thing? Like so they don't think you went on a vacation but claimed to be sick? I emailed a pic of it to all 16 of my bosses, plus an HR person.

When you compare Thursday's health to Monday's health, it seems like there's no hope of getting better any time this month.

Just curious - does your job have Short Term Disability? We required Dr. notes for anything over 3 days missed, and anything over a week we require employees to file a claim for Short Term Disability...I work in HR, so yes...Dr. notes are a big thing in the work place! We don't like to assume, but you would be surprised what people will pull to get out of work for a few days. It's always best to have documentation to cover your ass. Hang in there and I hope you feel better soon!!!

I work in HR too and work notes are to cover the company's ass so that you don't come back to work before you are better. Also, for next time, just sent the note to HR and your immediate supervisor. You are not required to send it to everyone. I'm sure they know your work ethic and that you wouldn't be skipping work if you were well enough to be there. Hope you feel better soon!!!

Hope you are feeling better.

You've been felled by bronchitis/pneumonia a few times in recent years. Does Doug have any ideas or has he investigated why you are so prone to these ailments? Could it be something genetic, like the commenter on the previous post mentioned? Is it damage caused by the years living with all that second-hand smoke? Whatever the case, is there something that can fix whatever the situation is, so you will be less prone to respiratory/pulmonary illnesses? If not, can Doug suggest steps you can take, things you can do daily that will lessen the chances of your coming down with something that causes you to be unable to breathe? Not just the typical things people do to keep from catching bugs, but specific things having to do with this type of ailment and whatever it is that is making you more prone to coming down with and getting walloped by it?

Why are your sisters having trouble making food? Haven't they cooked for themselves when you've been out of town?

When you are feeling better and cooking again, you might try making double batches and sticking the extra in the freezer when you are making chicken soup, so that you will have some ready for someone to defrost and heat for you when you are ill, and when you are making casseroles, so that there will be food ready for the others when you are ill or for when you otherwise aren't up to cooking. Also, for crockpot meals, you can prep and portion out vegetables and meat and spices into gallon-sized Ziplock bags, write the contents in permanent marker on the outside of the bag along with directions of what to add, and stick those in the freezer. For pizza, you can make pizza dough and freeze it, and you can make tomato sauce and can it.

Again, hope you are feeling better, even if only enough so that you see a light at the end of the tunnel.

I thought of you when I saw that COPD commercial where the elephant follows the guy around because if feels like trying to breathe with an elephant sitting on your chest!

And yes, people really abuse the calling in sick thing. My experience has been that those who take all of their sick days every year are rarely the ones who are sick. They just view them as additional vacation days to be used up!

I hope you feel better soon!
